Package: git-core
Version: 1:1.5.2.2-3
Severity: wishlist
File: /usr/bin/git-remote

Renaming a remote requires changes in several places:
 * The remote configuration in .git/config
 * The remote branch directory in .git/refs/remotes/
 * Any remote branch heads which reference other remote branches, such as HEAD
   (which will likely contain something like "ref:
   refs/remotes/remotename/branchname")
 * The reflogs in .git/logs/refs/remotes/

To simplify this process, how about a "git remote rename"? Syntax:
git remote rename oldname newname
Perhaps allow the synonym "git remote mv".
