Samuel, The patch you submitted is unacceptable. "configure" is an autogenerated file; please do not patch it directly. Further, the source of the code you're patching is libtool, which should be updated to support this functionality in general instead of asking maintainers of individual packages to locally patch their configure scripts. I've just refreshed unixodbc to use the latest Debian libtool for other reasons, and it appears that this option is now supported on kfreebsd-gnu but not yet supported on hurd.
