Package: zsh Version: 4.2.5-1 Severity: wishlist Zsh has almost perfect emulation of ksh. See this thread in zsh-users -mailing-list:
http://www.zsh.org/mla/users/2005/msg00344.html http://www.zsh.org/mla/users/2005/index.html Its ksh-emulation can be invoked like this: emulate ksh The other way is to start zsh via symlink called ksh. The real AT&T KSH93 is already packaged for Debian, because now they use really free license. Its package is called "ksh" and its binary is called "/bin/ksh93" . Packager of pdksh realised that and made pdksh-package to use update-alternatives : -=*[ROOT ZSH]*=- [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/root # update-alternatives --config ksh There is only 1 program which provides ksh (/bin/pdksh). Nothing to configure. Hence, I propose also zsh will use update-alternatives for managing that ksh-symlink. I also propose that a package called ksh will do so, too. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (99, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.11-1-686 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages zsh depends on: ii debconf 1.4.46 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libncurses5 5.4-4 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii passwd 1:4.0.3-31sarge1 change and administer password and -- debconf information: zsh/rcmove: -- Juhapekka "naula" Tolvanen * http colon slash slash iki dot fi slash juhtolv "Lennän taas.
