As I shown you in EDI, I have started working on a patch for the selection of the default mirror of pbuilder. Currently it works ok on fresh installations and doesn't touch previous installations. (I know conffiles should not be touched, but they are "kind of" not touched :-D ) What it does is to select as the MIRRORSITE the first valid deb line in /etc/apt/sources.list. Currently it does not restrict that to http and ftp deb lines, but that should be trivial. Since that is a reasonable default value the debconf question is asked at medium priority.
