Package: proftpd Version: 1.3.0-24 Severity: normal Hi,
I have configured proftpd to start from inetd, this creates a line like this: ftp stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/proftpd However, I only want it on localhost so I edited it to look like this: localhost:ftp stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/proftpd Unfortunately running dpkg-reconfigure (or upgrading I gather) doesn't change the line I added (which AFAICT is legal) but readds the original one. If I remove it and try to "start" proftpd I get: ProFTPd warning: cannot start neither in standalone nor in inetd/xinetd mode. Check your configuration. Which is simply an annoyance because my line does work, but it indicates that this is both a proftpd and update-inetd problem, so I'm reporting this bug to the proftpd package first. greets, Wim -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.18 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages proftpd depends on: ii adduser 3.102 Add and remove users and groups ii debconf 1.5.13 Debian configuration management sy ii debianutils 2.21 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii libacl1 2.2.41-1 Access control list shared library ii libattr1 2.4.32-1 Extended attribute shared library ii libc6 2.5-5 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libldap2 2.1.30-13.4 OpenLDAP libraries ii libmysqlclient15off 5.0.38-3 mysql database client library ii libncurses5 5.6-3 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libpam-runtime 0.79-4 Runtime support for the PAM librar ii libpam0g 0.79-4 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libpq5 8.2.4-1 PostgreSQL C client library ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8e-4 SSL shared libraries ii libwrap0 7.6.dbs-12 Wietse Venema's TCP wrappers libra ii netbase 4.29 Basic TCP/IP networking system ii perl 5.8.8-7 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii ucf 3.001 Update Configuration File: preserv ii update-inetd 4.27-0.5 inetd.conf updater ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-15 compression library - runtime proftpd recommends no packages. -- debconf information: shared/proftpd/warning: * shared/proftpd/inetd_or_standalone: inetd -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
