This is indeed the case. The only xcb-capable plugins in xine-lib are xv and xshm at the moment. Adding support for non-xcb plugins (at kaffeine) would cause various issues to reappear so I try to avoid that. Porting the opengl plugin to xcb is an evil thing (mainly because of mesa).
