What is not user-friendly? The integration into right-clic menu or the
fact that user need to write its own custom action?

the integration into the right-click menu and custom actions are
great. i meant that using a command-line tool (wodim) is bad from a
usability standpoint. there needs to be at least a minimal gui where
the user is prompted for the burning device, then is shown a progress
bar as it burns.

Without doing anything, or using custom actions?

yes, brasero set up the thunar custom action itself when it was
installed -- very easy and straightforward for the user.

I don't think this will be possible, brasero is a gnome app which brings
just too many gnome things, even for Recommends:

ok, i didn't realize brasero was a gnome-heavy app. could a simple
(very basic) cd writer gui be quickly written using something like
libburn (http://icculus.org/burn/) and gtk only?
