The machine has excellent responsiveness until it starts up with the hdc
busy messages, occurs even when I have clocksource=pit set (and on the other
clock sources as well). A 2.6.18 kernel (as mentioned when I reported the
problem only had the occasional pause every 10 minutes or so, no real
detriment to usability.

I don't have access to the machine at the moment but should be able to
report back on this tomorrow.
