I'm aware of this, and the cronjob only handles clusters which do not have autovacuum enabled, so it does not actually do anything normally. I will remove all this autovacuum stuff from postgresql-common when Lenny gets released. As long as Etch is current, postgresql-7.4 is still supported (which needs the autovac stuff in postgresql-common), and I do not want to break backportability.
