Hi, About a year ago, you reported (or replied to) a bug to the Debian BTS regarding the X server and console dying on a Radeon X800GTO board. Did you reproduce this problem recently? With Xorg/Etch? With latest xserver-xorg-core and drivers? If not, I will close this bug in the next weeks.
