Hi, Now that we're post-etch, updating this bug with any current information from the PAM team on when/if PAM will be updated in sid in preparation for lenny would be very useful. Folks who may have a need for the new features can plan on workarounds if a PAM update is not expected for our next stable release.
For example, I maintain the libpam-unix2 PAM module which will require some extra work to be compaible with our current old PAM version. If a core PAM upgrade is happening at some point, it may not worthwhile to do this work. On the other hand, if a core PAM upgrade is some time away or not happening for lenny, I will probably downgrade the package or do the extra compatibility work.
