>From the etch version, 2:1.3-4 - as I wrote it was a dist-upgrade etch->sid. But the same happens if I partially upgrade an etch chroot to lenny just by "apt-get update; apt-get install tipa". You check whether the md5sum of the conffile is md5sum=3D7ac309696f100620083b05a8b9f6900e but # dpkg-query -f'${Conffiles}\n Version: ${Version}' --show tipa; echo /etc/texmf/updmap.d/10tipa.cfg 2a989f27299859209b111aa931b95e20 /etc/texmf/updmap.d/20tipa.cfg 47574dbf88f8a751a483b50c12b2e8e7 obsolete Version: 2:1.3-4 # Maybe you should indeed use dpkg-query to get the md5sum of the unmodified conffile and compare that to the actual md5sum.
