You were absolutely right, I just reconfirmed it. I did not see this issue because I still had the libc0.3 package installed which I uploaded to http://people.debian.org/~mbanck/hurd-hurd/http://people.debian.org/~mbanck/hurd-hurd/libc0.3_2.5-10_hurd-i386.deb . In fact, if you download that .deb and install it via "dpkg -i libc0.3_2.5-10_hurd-i386.deb", the console should probably work again (but x.org will not, you need Samuel's xserver-xorg-core package for that) I will now recompile glibc and close this bug once a good libc0.3 is in the archive.
