# modprobe --verbose --dry-run usb:v0830p0070d0100dc00dsc00dp00icFFisc00ip00
WARNING: Not loading blacklisted module visor
FATAL: Module usb:v0830p0070d0100dc00dsc00dp00icFFisc00ip00 not found.

And then interestingly enough:
# grep -ir /etc/visor *
modprobe.d/libpisock9:blacklist visor
<snip>

And then:
$ apt-cache show libisock9
W: Unable to locate package libisock9
E: No packages found

And then:
$ nice sudo apt-get remove libisock9
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package libisock9

Then:
rm /etc/modprobe.d/libisock9

And now my Palm Pilot syncs just fine with no need for a manual modprobe visor.

It looks like this problem came from a stale configuration file, and I am not
sure what can be done about that to help others, considering libisock seems to
no longer exist. Anything come to mind?

Clayton
