I have a Debian unstable system running a self-compiled 2.6.8.1 kernel
from kernel.org. I am trying to use a USB 2.0 8-in-1
Reader/Writer. The manufacturer is SIIG. I have been using this for
quite a while on this system to download images from a digital
camera. This is something I do periodically, and it has probably be a
few weeks since I last did it.

Now it no longer works. Here is an example of what I see in
/var/log/syslog:

Any suggestions what this means?

Ultimately, I can't mount the disk or do anything with the reader.

I tried the reader on another machine, and it works fine. It's also a
Debian unstable machine, but it's running a 2.4.x kernel.
