FYI, the next version of gnome-vfs-obexftp will not require the "-x" argument to hcid.
Instead of using hcid to create/destroy /dev/rfcommX files, it uses Bluetooth RFCOMM sockets. As well as making connection a bit faster, this also means that it will work with newer bluez-utils where the org.bluez.RFCOMM interface has been replaced by org.bluez.serial.Manager. Note that hcid is still used for device enumeration, but that feature does not require the "-x" flag.
