Subject: drupal5: Initial installation not obvious Package: drupal5 Version: 5.1-2 Severity: normal
Looking at bug reports and ignoring the fact that 427001 is PostgreSQL, this sure looks like 427001. I never worked with drupal in any way, shape or form before. I installed the package, and similar to snort it insisted it couldn't set up the MySQL connection itself. Fine, I made a drupal user and drupal database. I ran dpkg-reconfigure (twice, once telling it to make the dbase, or whatever the question like this is exactly). I was still getting emails every 5 minutes from cron about problems. The /usr/share/doc/drupal5 README (INSTALL?) talks about a MySQL specific SQL setup file in a database directory. I don't have a database directory, and the list of files for the drupal5 package doesn't have one either. Speaking of README stuff, I was told to edit settings.php, but it's really dbconfig.php that you want us to edit. Anyway, I was off to google to figure out how to get away from this email from cron every 5 minutes. It seems that I should run install.php. Okay. Looking at the README, it doesn't talk about setting things up from the HTTP side. I finally tried http://localhost/ (which didn't really help) and http://localhost/drupal5 >From the results of entering this last URL, I figured out that http://localhost/drupal5/install.php for a URL might (actually did?) finish the install. Perhaps you can adjust the documentation to reflect what appears to be new installation instructions? -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages drupal5 depends on: ii apache2-mpm-itk [httpd] 2.2.3-04-2 multiuser MPM for Apache 2.2 ii curl 7.16.2-4 Get a file from an HTTP, HTTPS or ii dbconfig-common 1.8.34 common framework for packaging dat ii debconf 1.5.13 Debian configuration management sy ii exim4 4.67-1 metapackage to ease exim MTA (v4) ii exim4-daemon-heavy [mail-tr 4.67-1 exim MTA (v4) daemon with extended ii mysql-client-5.0 [mysql-cli 5.0.41-2 MySQL database client binaries ii php4 6:4.4.6-2 server-side, HTML-embedded scripti ii php4-gd 6:4.4.6-2+b1 GD module for php4 ii php4-mysql 6:4.4.6-2+b1 MySQL module for php4 ii postgresql-client-8.2 [post 8.2.4-1 front-end programs for PostgreSQL ii wwwconfig-common 0.0.48 Debian web auto configuration Versions of packages drupal5 recommends: ii mysql-server 5.0.41-2 MySQL database server (meta packag ii mysql-server-5.0 [mysql-serve 5.0.41-2 MySQL database server binaries -- debconf information: * drupal5/mysql/admin-user: root * drupal5/webserver: apache2 * drupal5/mysql/method: unix socket drupal5/install-error: abort drupal5/passwords-do-not-match: drupal5/pgsql/method: unix socket drupal5/dbconfig-remove: drupal5/internal/skip-preseed: false drupal5/pgsql/authmethod-user: drupal5/remote/newhost: drupal5/dbconfig-upgrade: true drupal5/remote/port: drupal5/pgsql/changeconf: false * drupal5/db/app-user: drupal drupal5/pgsql/authmethod-admin: ident * drupal5/database-type: mysql drupal5/upgrade-backup: true * drupal5/dbconfig-reinstall: true drupal5/pgsql/admin-user: postgres drupal5/internal/reconfiguring: true drupal5/remote/host: drupal5/db/basepath: * drupal5/dbconfig-install: false drupal5/pgsql/manualconf: drupal5/pgsql/no-empty-passwords: drupal5/remove-error: abort drupal5/purge: false * drupal5/db/dbname: drupal drupal5/upgrade-error: abort -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
