Package: libgnome2-ruby1.8 Version: 0.16.0-2 Severity: normal
Hello, mkmf-gnome2.rb requires pkg-config.rb, which cannot be found in any package of the current unstable ruby-gnome2 release. but it (pkg-config.rb) is available in the upstream sources of ruby-gnome2. This breaks build-depends for various ruby tools. For example, using build-depends of libgnome2-ruby, pbuilder says at some point: cd ./ext && ruby extconf.rb && cd .. *** extconf.rb failed *** Could not create Makefile due to some reason, probably lack of necessary libraries and/or headers. Check the mkmf.log file for more details. You may need configuration options. Provided configuration options: --with-opt-dir --without-opt-dir --with-opt-include --without-opt-include=${opt-dir}/include --with-opt-lib --without-opt-lib=${opt-dir}/lib --with-make-prog --without-make-prog --srcdir=. --curdir --ruby=/usr/bin/ruby1.8 /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/mkmf-gnome2.rb:13:in `require': no such file to load -- pkg-co nfig (LoadError) from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/mkmf-gnome2.rb:13 from extconf.rb:7:in `require' from extconf.rb:7 make: *** [config.status] Error 1 pbuilder: Failed autobuilding of package -> Aborting with an error -> unmounting dev/pts filesystem -> unmounting proc filesystem -> cleaning the build env -> removing directory /var/cache/pbuilder/build//23586 and its subdirectorie s I am neither a specialist for ruby, nor for packaging, and therefore there might be an error be on my side. But I want to understand, what is wrong. And why does one file requires another, which is not included at all, although available in the upstream sources? Thanks, Maxim p.s. the unstable versions of libxxx-ruby have been tested with pbuilder. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
