Because the job originator (Windows) sent the job with the "raw" option? Or maybe CUPS did "auto-type" the received jobfile as "application/octet- stream" mime type -- which does only print as "raw" (that means no options will be applied), but only when raw printing for octet-stream files is enabled, or not print at all? (Check the "auto-typing" line in your CUPS error_log file written with "LogLevel debug"....) The most recent releases of Samba 3.0.20+ now do include a new smb.conf parameter called "cups options" added. You can set this parameter to any single CUPS job option, or a part, or the complete list of options con- tained in your lpoptions file; whatever you want.
