Yes, this code must stay. Thank you for clarification.

The problem is the transition of the libslang2 package is Debian to
testing. It's currently blocked by the libc transition while jed went to
testing.

@pkg-jed: Should we reassign this bug to libslang2 and reword it to set
  the correct dependency with dpkg-shlibdeps? It's the problem that
  libslang2 lowers the dependency in the package information to 2.0.6-3
  while it was build with libslang2 2.0.7.
