Initial suggestion: Display the logical interface name, as read from /etc/network/ifstate or /etc/network/run/ifstate, instead of the word "active" if the logical interface name is different from the physical interface name. > I'd prefer not to provide a second level of menus listing > every logical interface if at all possible.
