Package: pidgin
Version: 2.0.1-1
Severity: normal

I use the Jabber (XMPP) and AIM capabilities of pidgin regularly. Also, since
I don't like storing my password on disk, I opt to manually enter both of them
whenever I connect.

I find that when I mistype my AIM password, pidgin disables my account and I
must click the error thingie that shows up at the bottom of the window to
re-enable the account. This is very annoying in situations where I mistype my
password multiple times consecutively.

Furthermore, with XMPP, the problem is even worse. When I hit the button to
re-enable my XMPP account, pidgin apparently tries to reconnect _with the same
password_. Thus, to retype my password, I have to go to the Account dialog,
modify the XMPP account, clear the password box in that dialog, and hit save.
As you can imagine, this is infuriating in the instances when I mistype my
password more than once.

Earlier versions of GAIM (1.4? 1.5?) handled my situation properly. Namely,
when the password is typed manually (rather than saved), and results in an
authentication error, pidgin should immediately ask the user to re-enter the
password for the account. There is absolutely no reason to disable the account
in this situation.
