Hi Giridhar, thanks for your interest in gworldclock.

The entry under Hamradio is actually quite deliberate, and comes about
because of gworldclock's historical context. When I started using Linux
I was looking for a program which kept track of times in different
timezones. The closest I could find was twclock, maintained by Joop
Stakenborg (Hamradio id pa3aba), which was specifically intended for
hamradio users. They use it because their radios get them in touch with
others from anywhere on the planet.

twclock didn't quite behave the way I wanted, so I used the opportunity
to learn some gtk programming and wrote my own. Joop sponsored the
package until I became a Debian developer.

So that is how it ended up in Apps/Hamradio.

To be honest, I am quite proud of the relevance to the Hamradio
community, even though I haven't had a chance to join them myself yet.
Bdale Garbee has asked me to extend the program further by keep track of
the penumbra where day meets night. That's quite important to the
hamradio users, something to do with the distance they can reach due to
radio reflection off the ionosphere.

Obviously the program is useful to others too. I'm not sure I'm
completely happy to move it to Apps/Tools however. That seems a bit too
general. But I'll think about it.

In any case, it has been placed in Applications/Accessories in the
Freedesktop menus (Gnome, and I presume KDE too).

Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

Drew
