yeah, it boggles the mind sometimes, especially considering that
computers by nature are supposed to provide the same output given
the same input. :)

as a note, if in gnucash i select:
Prefences->Windows and set "Toolbar Style" to "Text only", the toolbar
then displays as expected.  changing back to "System default" displays
the icons again.
