reopen 322299 found 322299 1.5.3 tags 322299 +patch thanks I'm not convinced this is really the same underlying bug as 322299 but since the fix was already attached here I've reopened it.
We were seeing hangs on apt-get update when pointing an Etch installation at apt-cacher 1.5.3 because some DIffIndex files are not present on the upstream server (I guess since Etch has had no updates) and the 404 is not handled correctly in combination with keep-alive as described by Grzegorz. We are running now with Grzegorz's fix and all seems fine.
