OK. So apparently, the problem comes because the PCMCIA card services do not start on the installed system. If you still have one of such installed system, it would be interesting to check which packages are installed. Maybe could you install a minimal system with the Debian "etch" CD's on a small partition of the machine (about 300MB is enough, IIRC). If you want Debian etch on that machine, I suggest you currently install Debian 3.0 (is 3.1 aka "sarge" working?), then upgrade it first to sarge, then to etch by reading those versions' release notes. But, again, it's probably worth investigating that "PCMCIA card doesn't work after reboot" problem. Frans, any other suyggestion we could make?
