Package: tex4ht Severity: normal Justification: actually only minor, but it hurts the spirit of the alternatives mechanism too much
Hello, the update-alternatives calls have been first introduced in 20010309-3 to avoid a clash with the ht package. The then-maintainers started discussing alternatives first in #101220. Well, the alternatives system was never meant to work for packages providing different functionalities, so using it here was plainly a bad move. Moreover the ht package now uses a different name for binary and manpage, so the name clash and thus the reason for the packages to conflict disappeared, so please remove the update-alternatives calls and provide a way to remove previously registered alternatives on package upgrade. If there is indeed another package providing comparable functionality and also installing /usr/bin/ht (I didn't find any) then please just close this. Cheers, Flo - new ht maintainer
