I got a email sent to me on this subject and include here in: ~~~~ Re: bug#289584 [ati/radeon] does not support unknown chipset (0x5960) rev 1 [Radeon 9250] Date: Today 01:42:01 pm From: "Paul A. Judd" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (Best Attempt / PAJ esq.) To: kraehe <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Reply to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Micheal, I manually changed driver from ati to radeon and it worked ok. I also enabled all modules except xtt and it still worked. Previously I had not put in all modules as some did not load and others were not recommended for the ati/radeon as per xfree/ati websites guides. I also get the 1024x768 Pixel (347x260mm) format to load ( very nice, just like old Caldera set up on old machine with Tseng card ) rather than the 800x600. I was told ??gears?? application was a way of checking 3D accelleration but haven't found it yet. If dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 is used, the radeon driver is ***not*** listed, only ati, so only your manual method of driver specification works.
