Ok, that's seems to be coherent with what you described. The disks
/dev/hdb and /dev/hdd are not recognized by hddtemp. Could you please
send me the output of 

hddtemp /dev/hdb
hddtemp -wn /dev/hdb
hddtemp /dev/hdd
hddtemp -wn /dev/hdd
