Package: fontconfig Version: 2.3.1-2 Severity: important
After upgrading fontconfig from 2.2.3-4 and restarting my graphical environment, I saw all truetype fonts are compressed vertically (aspect ratio was changed), at least on GTK apps (ROX-Filer, Firefox) and IceWM -- not checked others yet. This is very annoying because it makes many small-size labels hard to read or unreadable, when they were perfect with the previous version. I double checked that fontconfig is the culprit, by downgrading (only) it to the previous version, restarting my environment, and seeing all was good again. I will try to attach two shots showing the problem with ROX-Filer. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.27-2-k7-smp Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages fontconfig depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.4.30.11 Debian configuration management sy ii defoma 0.11.8-0.1 Debian Font Manager -- automatic f ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfontconfig1 2.3.1-2 generic font configuration library ii msttcorefonts 1.2 Installer for Microsoft TrueType c ii ttf-bitstream-vera 1.10-3 The Bitstream Vera family of free ii ucf 1.17 Update Configuration File: preserv -- debconf information: fontconfig/subpixel_rendering: Automatic * fontconfig/enable_bitmaps: true * fontconfig/rendering_type: Autohinter fontconfig/hinting_type: Native
