Package: gnome-applets Version: 2.18.0-3 I changed the default background color of all the "System Monitor" gnome panel applet graphs from black to white. However, when the applet loads (when start an X session) the graphs are initially all black. As seconds pass, the applets records a graph with a white background, eventually replacing all of the black background.
This "start with a black background" behavior happens via another means as well. If I right click on the applet and select Preferences, I'm presented with a window that has "Monitored Resources" such as "Processor" and "Swap Space". If I disable, then re-enable a resource, all the graphs to the right of the toggled resources are disabled then re-enabled, exposing the "start from black" behavior. To clarify what I mean by "graphs to the right": 0) Set the background of all resources to white. 1) Enable monitoring of all the resources 2) Toggle (disable then re-enabled) the "Processor" resource. 3) Notice that all the other resources graphs are blanked with black and gradually fill with white as the graph is recored. 4) Toggle, for example, "Swap Space", and notice only the "Load" and "Harddisk" are reset to black. I described this black background bug in March 26, 2006. I was confused why my bug report was hard to reproduce, since doing so seemed trivial. I upgraded to the most recent version to follow up on the bug, but I was disappointed the bug hadn't been fixed yet I couldn't think what to add to the bug report. I was about to give up, when I noticed that the about box on the applet still said "System Monitor 2.14.3" when I know I had just upgraded to System Monitor 2.16.1. When I left clicked on the applet, the window that appears has it's own separate About, which DOES read "System Monitor 2.16.1". So I luckily figured out that these are two separate software packages, despite the "About" box both naming themselves "System Monitor", and the close (one left click) user interface association. Please consider changing the About for the applet to read "Gnome Applets: System Monitor" or "System Monitor Applet", so future bug reports are more likely be filled to the correct package. The bug report from March 2006 is Debian Bug 359966.
