I find your answer a bit rude and inconsistant. Why don't you provide something like : pipe_transport = address_pipe directly in router/400_exim4-config_system_aliases, then ? Either you use the macro and explain which values it may be set to, or you don't, isn't it ? ... and knowing what one is doing with an MTA is far different than understanding why and how the maintainer use such config setup by default in Debian... Please, think about your users, or don't maintain a package. Anyway, it's you choice if you don't want to fix that... but please don't be rude to users trying to improve the situation.
