Package: gettext-el Version: 0.16.1-1 Severity: minor Hi,
Today I wanted to edit some .po files, so I issued the command: % apt-cache search gettext emacs % Nothing, big surprise, then some probes: % apt-cache search gettext | grep gettext-el gettext-el - Emacs po-mode for editing .po files % apt-cache search emacs | grep gettext-el gettext-el - Emacs po-mode for editing .po files % apt-cache search gettext emacs | grep gettext-el % apt-cache's manpage says: search regex [ regex ... ] search performs a full text search on all available package lists for the regex pattern given. It searches the package names and the descriptions for an occurrence of the regular expression and prints out the package name and the short description. If --full is given then output identical to show is produced for each matched package, and if --names-only is given then the long description is not searched, only the package name is. Separate arguments can be used to specify multiple search patterns that are and’ed together. If I see correctly, gettext-el is in the output of 'gettext' and of 'emacs' but not in 'gettext emacs', however the documentation says that patterns are and'ed together. So probably it is an apt bug, but I think we can get a fast result, if you change the description for example to: gettext-el - Emacs po-mode for editing gettext (.po) files Thanks, Gergely -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.20-1-686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=hu_HU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages gettext-el depends on: ii emacs21 [emacsen] 21.4a+1-2 The GNU Emacs editor ii gettext 0.16.1-1 GNU Internationalization utilities gettext-el recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
