OK, I guess the problem is with smarthosting. My configuration, for better or for worse (I have those pesky paniclogs), has not changed. Question is, what has? I recall an exim4 upgrade quite a while back that broke smarthosting and I lived without it until that was fixed. Please look into that alternative. I tried direct sends through the provider using kmail requsting authentication. Kmail as compiled by KDE's script, does not support it though the UI does. So if authentication is a problem, then I need to know how to get exim4 to do so. The reconfigure UI does not mention it. Without trying to authenticate, I get the error message immediately about relaying. I will contact the provider about accept and bounce as well.
