I tend to agree here. Yes, but I think the initial patch author's point was that 99% of the now-Linux-specific Makefile really is just glibc specific, he just thought it was better not to rename or otherwise factorise it for easy success. It's clear that we want to have these patches upstream though, so thanks for your insight about future directions.
