> Any news about that? Could we close the bug? My Debian box is working 100% OK. Can upgrade other stuff as well.
However: After a recent post about libc6 upgrade trashing someone's sarge, I recommend the following: 1. Pre-configure: Check running kernel. If not new enough, STOP NOW. Check current environment for inappropriate LD_ASSUME_KERNEL. If present, warn user and STOP NOW. Check files such as /etc/environment, /etc/profile for inappropriate LD_ASSUME_KERNEL.. If found, tell user to delete it before proceding (just like it told be to get rid of the /usr/lib entries) and STOP NOW. Warn user NEVER to run 2.4 kernels again. Opportunity to abort upgrade. 2. If all is OK Warn user about LD_ASSUME_KERNEL again. Rewarn user about 2.4 kernels. There are still folk running 2.4 kernels for whatever reason. So before closing, we must prevent catastrophic results. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
