I am wondering of which installation you are talking. If you mean the
web-based installation i don't see a need to install mysql-client, as
mantis is setup during the package installation w/o the mantis installer
(which has been tested and should be working fine as is). If it now
fails under some circumstances, then i think we should check
dbconfig-common for missing depends, cause that is what is used for
installing the database.

Could you supply me with further information?

Uh.. didn't even know that ubuntu contains a current mantis package. But
as far as I see they imported them into their distribution.
