Package: gnome-volume-manager Version: 1.2.0-1 Severity: normal
I have a USB pendrive that's is not automatically mounted by g-v-m. I had a look at bug #300887 but it seems in that case it was user error and hopefully this won't be the case on this occasion ;) Anyway I've answer the questions you asked there here: I am a member of plugdev group output of g-v-m when pendrive added manager.c/818: New Device: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_ea0_2168_200_-1_F305CC416601897A libhal.c 911 : Error sending msg: No property info.capabilities on device with id /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_ea0_2168_200_-1_F305CC416601897A libhal.c 911 : Error sending msg: No property info.capabilities on device with id /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_ea0_2168_200_-1_F305CC416601897A manager.c/818: New Device: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_usb_device_ea0_2168_200_-1_F305CC416601897A_0 libhal.c 911 : Error sending msg: No property info.capabilities on device with id /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_usb_device_ea0_2168_200_-1_F305CC416601897A_0libhal.c 911 : Error sending msg: No property info.capabilities on device with id /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_usb_device_ea0_2168_200_-1_F305CC416601897A_0manager.c/818: New Device: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/scsi_host_8 manager.c/818: New Device: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/scsi_8_0_0_0 libhal.c 911 : Error sending msg: No property info.capabilities on device with id /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/scsi_8_0_0_0 libhal.c 911 : Error sending msg: No property info.capabilities on device with id /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/scsi_8_0_0_0 manager.c/818: New Device: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/block_8_0 This is my rule BUS="usb", SYSFS{product}="Flash Disk ", KERNEL="sd?", NAME="%k", SYMLINK="pendrive" output of lshal | grep -B22 -A7 /dev/sda (I can give all of lshal if you'd prefer but this is a lot shorter) udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/block_8_0' storage.policy.should_mount = true (bool) info.udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/block_8_0' (string) storage.requires_eject = false (bool) storage.hotpluggable = true (bool) storage.removable = true (bool) info.product = 'Disk' (string) info.vendor = 'Easy' (string) storage.drive_type = 'disk' (string) block.storage_device = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/block_8_0' (string) storage.physical_device = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_usb_device_ea0_2168_200_-1_F305CC416601897A_0' (string) storage.vendor = 'Easy' (string) storage.model = 'Disk' (string) storage.automount_enabled_hint = true (bool) storage.no_partitions_hint = false (bool) storage.media_check_enabled = true (bool) storage.bus = 'usb' (string) block.minor = 0 (0x0) (int) block.major = 8 (0x8) (int) info.capabilities = 'block storage' (string) info.category = 'storage' (string) info.parent = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/scsi_8_0_0_0' (string) block.device = '/dev/sda' (string) block.is_volume = false (bool) block.have_scanned = false (bool) block.no_partitions = false (bool) linux.sysfs_path_device = '/sys/block/sda' (string) linux.sysfs_path = '/sys/block/sda' (string) info.bus = 'block' (string) ll /dev/{sda,pendrive} lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 2005-04-05 20:15 /dev/pendrive -> sda brw-rw---- 1 root root 8, 0 2005-04-05 20:15 /dev/sda I notice that /dev/sda is owned by root:root but I can still pmount it and write to the device -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (600, 'testing'), (50, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-1-k7 Locale: LANG=en_GB.ISO-8859-15, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.ISO-8859-15 (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages gnome-volume-manager depends on: ii dbus-1 0.23.2-3 simple interprocess messaging syst ii dbus-glib-1 0.23.2-3 simple interprocess messaging syst ii gconf2 2.8.1-5 GNOME configuration database syste ii hal 0.4.7-3 Hardware Abstraction Layer ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-0 1.8.0-4 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libbonobo2-0 2.8.1-2 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-0 2.8.1-2 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgconf2-4 2.8.1-5 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglade2-0 1:2.4.2-2 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.6.3-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome2-0 2.8.1-2 The GNOME 2 library -
