Hmm, there appears to be something else going on here, because I:

 * purged jffnms
 * installed jffnms 0.8.3dfsg.1-2.1
 * adjusted apache config so i can see the pages
 * mv jffnms.conf.defaults into /etc/jffnms (fixes #419551)
 * created a host, ran the poller
 * went to performance and saw the graphs for a physical SNMP interface

I'm using rrdtool version 1.2.19-1

I even turned all the graphs on, just in case it was something going
on there.

So, what version of rrdtool doesn't work for you?
