Hello: I'm also experiencing this problem, but just on the xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:1.9.94-1) and not in the xserver-xorg-video-i810 (2:1.7.2-4).
Also this only happens to me, when I selected suspend and _not_ hibernating
when I close the lid on my laptop. My video card is intel 855GM.
I noticed that configuring klaptopdaemon not to do anything when lid closes
and pressing manually the lid button leads to X lock as well. It's not
possible to do anything on the system, just power button works.
I'm investigating if it could be an X video driver problem...
