eh? Where exactly. In Tools->Language there isn't any language entries. Never. What does it show in Tools -> options -> writing aids or format -> character? (See also below) > myspell-en-us package is installed. But a tick does appear at English (USA), doesn't it? > Perhaps this is because my locale is en_CA.UTF-8, vs. en_US.UTF-8? Yes, myspell-en-us is only registered for en_US, so it doesn't have an effect for en_CA. Of course, if you say that a an_US dictionary is also suitable for en_CA we can make myspell-en-us also register for en_CA (like openoffice.org-thesaurus-en-us does for en_GB) Please exit quickstarter (if running) and OOo and add "DICT en CA en_US" to the manual part of /etc/openoffice/dictionary.lst. Then gthe tick should appear and when you have formatted the text as English (Canada) it should work. Or you just format the text as English (USA). > However I'd still expect the Tools > Language menu to list available > languages, like en_US. see above. > As a wishlist item, when I choose Tools > Spellcheck, a widget pops up > claiming the spellcheck is complete, though it wasn't actually > performed.
