Hello, we discussed the problem of the syntax files a while ago, with Fathi Boudra, and concluded that we as kile devs ensure that kde/trunk, kde/branch/3.5, kile/trunk and kile/branch/1.9 always have the same version of latex.xml.
So any update of kdelibs on your side should include the newest latex.xml from the kde svn. But in the last update of kdelibs-data, version: 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-8 (Debian sid) is latex.xml v1.23 included and not the newest version of the kde 3.5 branch (which is v1.25 and was committed 5 weeks) ago.
