The solution is to remove and purge these, then apt-get > from unstable? you realize that's an ubuntu system? ubuntu and debian are not, i can not stress this enough, not, binary-compatible systems. mixing and matching packages like this leads quickly to the road of fubar'd systems. you should grab the latest php5 packages from edgy or fiesty if you want to get newer php5 packages (i'm assuming there are newer packages available there). if you really want the debian unstable php5 packages though, this is the method i would recommend: put a deb-src line pointing at unstable in your sources.list apt-get update apt-get build-dep php5 apt-get source -b php5 sean
