Another problem is that unmounting was asyncron in these early versions, which can cause data loss, too. So I strongly advise to drop this package, if you don't want to update it. Szaka, the project leader, had to deal with other problems regarding this version already. Perhaps you should talk with him to get a solution. But providing this version with etch is certainly the worst.
