I can't reproduce this bug, though i get unexpected result such as underline cutting the low part of the hanzis on big font sizes. At low sizes, the underline is still underline. It might be an XFT bug with some particular fonts. What font are you using ? I'm using the kochi-mincho and kochi-gothic ones, which are japanese fonts, not chinese ones...
