Stephen,

Don't feel bad ... I found another application that fails misserably within the same (similar) Qt functions: RAKI. Before giving up, let me do some 'dpkg/apt-ing' and report back.

Regards,
G

I get the same problem by following these steps with a CD in the proper drive:

1. Go to the CDDB screen
2. Click the Disc ID button
3. Click OK

It will fail in the same way as it has been described in this thread. Hopefully more consistently.

My installation is pretty stable and I am skilled enough to try changing the versions of specific libraries to 'see what happens'. If it helps and you want me to install a library with debug symbols so I can send you the stack trace, that's fine too. Unfortunately I don't have time to recompile and debug myself.

Ugh. I am beginning to fear more and more that kcdlabel will just have
to be removed from the archive. It was originally written for KDE2, and
then ported to KDE3 with some help. Probably the forward porting didn't
do so perfectly cleanly - the API changed dramatically between KDE2 and
KDE3, so it would be difficult to get it right.

kcdlabel is also basically dead upstream (only bug fix releases at this
point). The author is working on a ground up rewrite, which I look
forward to.

Thanks,
