Houston, we have a problem.  There is no .ppracer directory,
and no options file.  I see nothing about how they're supposed
to be created.

This doesn't help.  Now ppracer fails, but doesn't reset my screen back
to my defaults, and the diagnostic_log.txt file is empty.

Want an strace instead?  It's 130K large.
