I am having a problem very similar to this bug. I guess it's the same so I'm updating this instead of filing a new one.
When multiple people are logged in my PC and someone inserts a removable mebia (CD, USB stick, iPod) then the gnome-volume-preference setting for that media is triggered for all users, not just for the user who is currently active. E.g. when my girlfriend on the second login inserts a coulpe of CD's, my desktop will show several opened Nautilus instances, or multiple Rhythmbox instances if she's been playing with her iPod again. Is this indeed the same bug? If so, any chance this is fixed in Etch before it is released?
