I thought that should work, but I guess Evince doesn't like the libgnomeprint 2.18 :-/ By the way, if you go back to the previous libgnomeprint version, can you print duplex if you configure your printer to do so by default in CUPS? There's a very similar bug, 366775, about not being able to turn duplex printing off when it's the default. You could also try evince 0.8 from experimental, it uses gtk-print and not libgnomeprint.
