Package: localization-config Version: 0.111 Severity: minor During an installation with a Dutch keyboard attached I was confused during X configuration. The installation was done using RC3 at medium priority.
The reason was that two questions I expected were not shown and because of that the other questions were out of context which led me to enter incorrect values. The full set of keyboard configuration dialogs consists of: - Introductory message explaining keyboard config - model (preconfigured to 'pc105') - layout (preconfigured to 'nl') - variant - options Because of the introductory message, you expect to see the model and layout questions. Because l-c sets the 'seen' flag, these are not shown. This led me to enter 'nl' at the variant question, which is of course wrong. I think in this case it would be better to show the questions with the preconfigured values so the user can see the full context. Alternative would be to preconfigure _all_ keyboard related questions, including the introductory message. Note: I don't think that not setting the seen flag is necessary for all questions being preconfigured by l-c. Just in those cases where not showing questions could be confusing. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.27-2-386 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages localization-config depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.4.30.11 Debian configuration management sy ii libapt-pkg-perl 0.1.13 Perl interface to libapt-pkg ii libconfig-inifiles-perl 2.38-3 Read .ini-style configuration file ii locales 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: National Language ( ii perl-base 5.8.4-8 The Pathologically Eclectic Rubbis -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
